Finally, the Leopard Pounces

  • The Technology entry posted on October 16th, 2007.

The leopard (Panthera pardus) is an “Old World” mammal of the Felidae family and the smallest of the four “big cats” of the genus Panthera, along with the tiger, lion, and jaguar.

MacOS X Leopard

Which is somewhat ironic, considering MacOS X Leopard is packed with superfluously fun stuff that make it bigger and badder than every before.

Officially Announced

Today Apple officially announced that their next version of OSX, Leopard, will go on sale at 6 P.M. on October 26.

I immediately pre-ordered, with a guaranteed delivery date of October 26.

My boy Jobs made a cute Microsoft crack statement regarding Leopard pricing:

…everyone gets the “Ultimate” version, packed with all the new innovative features, for just $129.

Which, of course, is the way it should be.

Not Upgrading?

Speaking of Microsoftish nonsense, can you believe people are actually considering not upgrading?

Yes, in a classic move that reminds me of the XP move and now the Vista move, Mac users are talking about Leopard not being worth an upgrade. I’m here to tell you that you are retards. At $129, anyone that doesn’t upgrade just for the sake of having the newest hotness and the feeling of an all new mac is crazy.

Personally, I can’t wait for format everything I have and start fresh. I’ve already got it all planned out. All my data will be backed up to my Dual G4 storage server while my PowerMac G5, MacBook Pro, MacBook and Mac Mini are upgraded. Then, I’ll go ahead and run it on the old Dual G4.

Unlike Windows upgrades, for me it seems every new MacOS X version makes my older machines feel better. That is good.
