Sarah Palin and Katie Couric Don’t Makeout at the End

  • The Politics entry posted on September 25th, 2008.

As I watched the sparky Katie Couric interview our savior from witchcraft Sarah Palin, I couldn’t help but drift into a state somewhere between concern and frustration and depression. (Spoiler: They don’t make out at the end).

Then I thought, it’s likely a dream. It was 3:00 in the morning (watched it on TiVo, of course) and I had a flight the next day. Stress levels were higher than normal. This was all likely just some kind of weird dream I was having because I forgot to pee before I went to bed — right?

At this point, as I attempt with all my dreams, I try to force some lucidity and control the outcome. “Come on, make out” I thought. My brain struggles, one yearning synapse after another. No such luck, though.

Unfortunately, they didn’t make out. It was real and it was worse than her train wreck with Charlie Gibson. Not only is this woman unable to answer questions outside of the specifics she has been prepped for, she is utterly impotent in her pseudo-confident delivery.

A long diatribe about this interview isn’t necessary. It speaks for itself and, indeed, Sarah herself does a fine job of shining a spotlight on her detachment from real world issues.

If only it had been a joke, like this Onion article.

Lets get back to basics. Katie Couric: “I’m just going to ask you one more time – not to belabor the point.” A.) Belabor: argue or elaborate (a subject) in excessive detail: belabor the obvious. B.) Point: an argument or idea put forward by a person in discussion: he made the point that economic regulation involves controls on pricing. Was Katie Couric arguing a point, or was she asking a question? Beyond the two most recent examples of John McCain’s record, was Katie eliciting information in excessive detail, or just butchering syntax? Ms. Couric did ask for a laundry list, and Ms. Palin offered to oblige. What’s the proper response? You’re right Katie, John is an obvious fake and I’m totally clueless. D’oh! Sorry for wasting your time, but I figured you’d ask me to recite the Bush Doctrine while standing on my head. It’s moose hunting season. Come-on up to the cabin; you can see the Kremlin from the rooftop. I’ve got two wonderful new moose hats, one for both you and Charlie Gibson: http://theseedsof9-11.com

Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians? –Katie Couric

Joey, have you ever been to a Turkish prison? –Captain Oveur

This was quite disappointing from her. I really thought that she was much smarter than that. Huh well, it’s good that we got to witness this quality of hers now than later. But still, damn it!

Crazy, crazy, crazy I think this is not a vote. It’s just homecoming popularity contest.
    What’s up with that?

I sincerely hope that this is not a show of her true caliber.

This interview doesn’t reveal anything new about her. It just goes a bit more in depth so you can be sure that your first predicaments were true. It’s jut too bad, there’s nothing more to be said.

I really thought Palin was going to be well trained and prepared for the interview but this is where America first relized what she was all about. A punchline.

I think that was a small misstake, I’m sure she can do much better

This was one of the most ridiculous interviews that I have ever seen, i mean anyone who though Mccain was the one has to question his motives and decisons. I know it’s after the fact but I really liked Mccain (I voted for Obama) but after he picked Palin i really lost respect for him, it came back down to politics as usual with him thats why obama crushed him.

Even though the election is over, her inability to speak publicly combined with her use of canned responses and blatant nervousness is truly unbelievable. Not only is she inept, but she certainly had a negative effect on the campaign.

That said, I thoroughly enjoy watching her speak on mute so that I can fantasize that the two of them are talking about something other than the campaign.

My favorite interview is the other one between the two of them; where Palin can’t name a single newspaper she reads, and then states she reads “all of them, every one she can get her hands on”
