It’s finally here and early exit polling shows Kerry gaining a strong edge in key battleground states. It seems like a civil war waiting to happen outside.
Of course the polls are going crazy today. Everyone has a poll, every news organization, every cable station. These poll numbers are just plain pointless. As one Metafilter comment pointed out, no one knows if these polls are propoganda, a total fabrication, a counter-maneuver, a lousy poll, statistical noise, or some combination of the above. We don’t even know who these numbers might benefit — which is why we can’t even begin to dissect them rationally.
I feel as though I have done my part in some way to help get the word out about common sense voting. I’m sure I contributed to at least one or two Kerry votes, not including my own.
Despite what some newspapers and publications are saying — that the election isn’t nearly as 50/50 as the media might have us believe and that Kerry has a very good chance — I’m still hoping everyone gets out there and votes. One can only hope that the large turnout of new voters is more democratic as the polls have shown.
Only time will tell, and that time could be a while. I have major doubts that by the end of today we will know 100% who the president will be for the next 4 years. I’m seeing some law suits, recounts and result contesting in our future considering the precedence that was set in 2000.
Good luck Kerry, good luck to you.
