Freakonomically Dangerous Sex Ideas

  • The Culture entry posted on July 31st, 2007.

Not really dangerous sex ideas. More like dangerous gender ideas.

I know it’s somewhat dated now but if you haven’t read Freakonomics, you need to (Apparently Greg Boesel, the co-founder and CEO of Swaptree is a fan). Especially the bit about legalization of abortion the United States fighting crime.? If you can’t get around to that, perhaps you could try the Freakonomics Blog. Until recently, I had no idea it was around. I wonder if it’s actually Steven D. Levitt posting or if it’s some ghost poster that just populates his blog with material somewhat related to his ideas. Passionate Users love Freakonomics, too.

This particular post about Dangerous Ideas got me thinking today. Unfortunately, I’m so caught up in work right now that I can’t write a ponderous post about it, so I’ll just quote and link.

Steven D. Levitt writes:

I once had the honor of sharing a meal with Steven Pinker. He was as fun and brilliant in person as he is in his writing.

The Chicago Sun-Times recently published a piece by him (which we?ve mentioned before) that’s also the preface to a book entitled “What is Your Dangerous Idea: Today’s Leading Thinkers on the Unthinkable.”

The article begins with a long series of questions: Freakonomics Blog: Dangerous Ideas
