Everyone loves to hate Microsoft. Unfortunately that’s a little harder for me now. MSN recently received a substantial overhaul. Believe it or not, MSN has gone the way of CSS.
Sure, it doesn’t look all that great, but you have to hand it to them for trying. The new MSN pages are, as unbelievable as it sounds, XHTML 1.0 Strict (yes, strict). Of course, most of the pages don’t validate to their Strict doctype, but who cares? Sometimes validation is not really a concern or can’t be allowed to get in the way of progress in my opinion. Most of the overall layout is done using CSS with the exception of some small elements here and there.
All-in-all I think it’s a decent step forward, and it looks pretty organized.
NOTE: This was mostly written just so I’d have a post, it’s been a while. Sorry.
