Like most internet-arena entrepreneurs, I have a lot of projects. Naming these projects over the years has always been a pain. It’s often hard for me to choose a name because I’m just so picky. I love so many different kinds of brands that it’s hard to pick one genre that agrees with my current project. Do I want a descriptive title that affords users the ease of knowing pretty much what they’re going to see? Or, in contrast, do I want something obscure and different with no relation to the experience, letting the branding pick up the slack. Of course, add the fact that finding a great name that also has a .com available is another arduous task.

Over the past week or so, our small team here at the Dorsia offices have been trying to put together a name and brand for a project we’re working on. This step, unfortunately, is pretty much the only step left to take before it’s off to the races. We have major corporations waiting on said name, which only adds to the frustration that I have experienced so many times in the past with naming.

So, I’m asking you (yes, you!), the reader, for help. Give me some tools, resources and inspiration. Have any random naming sites? Word lists that you like? A magical thinking cap? Let me know!
